Aspire to Achieve Greatness

In the final days of high school over 15 years ago (gasp!) and with the dreaded SPM results looming (yes I know it sounds like forever ago), I harbored a small (& wishful) thought of maybe, just maybe and a little bit of you-never-know attitude of going to Pratt Institute in New York to study something in design (but i couldn’t draw to save my life). Yeappp, I had some mighty big dreams.

Needless to say, once reality hit (in the form of the parental (s) saying no way no how) so I chose to explore options. I picked a local college; with the provision it would be an ‘arty’ school and proceeded to bury myself in the world of Mass Communication focusing on Film&TV. Many years later, after a stint overseas and back again I finally figured out what I want to do for the rest of my life; and it has almost nothing to do with Film or TV… wish someone could have pointed it out once I finished local college..

These days not only do you still have uni / college fairs or roadshow to attend; there are career and networking fairs to help you kick-start your future in the corporate world. The one and only #graduanaspire is a highly anticipated career and networking fair; first conducted in Kuala Lumpur in 2011. When the whole idea of career networking began to take flight, GRADUAN ASPIRE extended its reach to East Malaysia (specifically Sarawak) last year. Its debut in Kuching saw more than 5,000 young ‘uns learning of the opportunities available to them, and taking into account some of the country’s leading corporations like Nestle, Shell, Alliance Bank and PETRONAS were able to secure some of Sarawak’s finest to join their organisations.

Not only is there absolutely total access to some of Malaysia’s biggest corporations and institutions, the GRADUAN ASPIRE BORNEO 2015 will be one of the most integrated career fairs of all time in Sarawak. There will be over 20 corporations from all industries; including LAFARGE, NAIM, INTEL, PRESS METAL, BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO and so many more. Seriously, such greatness is NOT TO BE MISSED!

Event info:

Date      : March 14, 2015 (Saturday)

Time      : 10am to 5pm

Venue  : Pullman Hotel Kuching, Sarawak.

This event is organised by GRADUAN, the GRADUAN ASPIRE BORNEO 2015 will be opened to the public on 14th March 2015, from 10am to 5pm at the Pullman Hotel in Kuching, Sarawak. For more information or to register for Malaysia’s premier career and postgraduate fair, log on to

Sorta set in stone

Gearing up for the final 3 months of 2013.. It’s unbelievable that 2013 has sped past me, I’m panting to keep up. The places I’ve been to this year (Sri Lanka, Singapore (5 crazy times), Hong Kong, China, Vietnam and in a weeks time different parts of Malaysia) mad hatter nuts!

On top of all the traveling is the friendships and relationships I’ve curated this year and it’s been absolutely essential for me, considering I’ve been a super home body lately. But much love to the siblings and their spouses (and babies), to all the high school buddies, to Em, NZ friends, to the two nutters from church who keep me sane and of course everyone else on my Whatsapp lol. Yup, my life has been reduced to Whatsapp chats.. But most of all, spending time with the parentals is my core 🙂 never would I have thought this would be something I would be experiencing all over again, and now in my 30’s. But I’m loving it! I am also extremely grateful for all the things that have happened or should I say presently happening to me this year, chugging away at all the multiple streams of work, at bazaars, growing the cafe and of course some personal stuff too.. But the year hasn’t ended yet and obviously I love surprises and in typical Jo-styled end of 2013, there will be lots of superb surprises!

There have been some life defining moments in the past 8 months and the saying “life is short” has truly touched my soul. I’ve learned the hard way that it is pointless to sweat the small things (like saving up to buy designer stuff) because now it’s more about living life and experiences and memories that are worth way way way more! Of course, I’m not saying don’t saved, everyone needs goals and savings.. just don’t sweat it. It’s about making time for family and friends, eating right (and sometimes wrong hehe), getting healthy and loving whole-heartedly for me now.. Can’t really be arsed about the minuscule ‘must be seen at’ parties and night outs.. Life is too short for random memories 🙂 although good long overdue catchups that involve a variety of single malt and canapés is a must!

Alsoooooo I’ve been you-tubing a lot and have decided to give vlogging a try. I don’t know how game I’ll be at showing my face.. But why not, might as well overcome that milestone! Keep an eye out for daily vlog-ish videos on my YouTube channel

I’m an aunty again (brother had baby 2) and will be an aunty soon (sister is due in about a month) no pics as of yet because baby’s parents are very private people 🙂 unlike me obviously. But fret not, will sneak some in later. There are babies everywhere 🙂

Looking forward to Chrismtas this year, will be spending it in the sunny NZ summer with the fam-bam, so can’t wait for that! But while all that is going on, bazaars galore in Kuching 🙂 yup, I’m all work!

So stay tuned and check out if you haven’t 🙂 show us some love!

Imma Changi-ing

Granted I have not experienced all the big city airports in the world, but I have to admit that Changi exceeds any and all expectations. I’ve been numerous times over the years and its always been a speedy and uneventful process. Even family members who found that even something tiny but essential that had dropped of their luggage were suitably impressed with the customer service.

Sure the rules and regulations are crazily strict and at times, there could be some smiling..but seriously majority of airport travelers just want to get to their end destination so probably will not even notice the almost indifferent treatment from airport staff.

Today will be the longest I will be sitting at Changi airport.. So the people watching and meandering around 3 terminals will be part of the 5 hour agenda. Luckily the shopping is kinda amazing 🙂

P/S and thank you for free wifi.. Cos it’s #fwp .. Seriously

I love me some randomness

For the past 3 TBB’s I have stopped setting up booth and selling.. And I always kinda feel left out a tiny bit, but in the end I am just too busy to be at the booth! Seriously! But this coming bazaar, it is a flea market edition and I want to get rid of my books!! So for once, I will be at the booth, selling alllllllll my books! Together with another friend G, who has over 200 books, we’ll have a to me of books!

Random but should I get a puppy? I have invited the SSPCA to be at TBB7 and they are doing an adoption drive at the bazaar! And now I’ve been thinking and thinking.. Hmmmmmmm.. We’ll see.. I mean getting a puppy is huge responsibility right? Like majorly huge! Hmmmmmm

See ya’ll there! It’s happening Saturday 13th April at LG Hills Shopping Mall from 10am-10pm 🙂

Random, but I’m a city girl through and through and I actually survived the weekend camping! Yes, camping! I bought my tent, found a sleeping bag and brought a whole lot of mozzie patches! But we had an awesome time, lots of laughter and then some 🙂

More pictures soon!

Oh yea, hello TBB7!

Just some of our awesome vendors who will be at TBB7 🙂

Peace to all Mankind!

We had a huuuuugeeeeeee Christmas Eve party planned at the cafe, and it surpassed all expectation. To be honest, I was a little worried cos we may have gone slighttttly over the invite list, but the more the merrier right? But phewwwwwwwwwwwww! It was a total smash hit! I had so much fun, I totally forgot to take a picture at the photo booth section! Sigh!

Here’s to more awesome parties and events 🙂

Something special

Over the last weekend, I went to a bridal boutique and fashion store grand opening and it was definitely a wow! KaiLee Bridal & Junk Store opened its funky doors officially on Sunday and I went with G to check it out.

Yes it’s a bridal boutique, but it’s also connected to the Junk Store (same owners of Junk Restaurant) and it just flowed beautifully. From room to room, the detailed design elements, and of course the clothes! We also loved the shoes, especially the gold spiky flats!

Check them out at:

CONGRATULATIONS again KaiLee & Junk! :):)
